Getting Someone's Attention
Marketing is all about getting someone’s attention; however, that is becoming an increasingly harder task. In today’s world, business owners and key decision-makers are flooded with marketing materials daily.
The question is how best to get your message to your target audience. If you don't have someone's attention, you'll never be able to deliver your message. Capturing the attention of your target audience is the number one obstacle to overcome.
As surprising as it may sound, many people are technologically illiterate. Combined with the fact that those same people are very busy, emphasises the fact that you need to stay focused with your message. Multi purpose messages are not very effective and the reader may not clearly understand your message. It’s best to offer a few pieces of information at a time.
The goal that needs to be accomplished is to get the attention of your target audience and compel them to take action. You only get attention from someone when they see some advantage in giving it to you.
According to surveys, approximately 75% of the people will glance at the headline, but only 25% will keep on reading. Therefore, you need a headline that will get their attention and text that will immediately explain the headline and keep their interest.
Bottom Line
- Keep your message simple, to the point, and stay away from multi purpose messages, focusing on one or two points at a time. If you have multiple messages to convey, send multiple messages.
- Utilize a Multi-Channel Marketing Strategy that consists of direct mail, e-mail, the web, and telemarketing.
